Totes vs. cardboard

Why totes instead of boxes?

Cardboard works. It's also a lot of extra work. Here's what changes when you use totes.

Cardboard boxes

  • Build every box before you can pack it
  • Tape the bottom, tape the top, buy more tape
  • Bottoms give out under heavy loads
  • Go soft the minute they get wet
  • Crush when you stack them too high
  • Leave you with a pile to break down and haul off

Our totes

  • Show up ready to pack
  • Snap-on lids. No tape at all
  • Heavy-duty, holding up to 75 lbs each
  • Plastic shrugs off rain and damp garages
  • Made to stack on each other
  • We pick them up when you're done
The Green Move KC graphic: Free boxes vs. tote rentals, part 1, your time. Free boxes mean driving store to store hunting for boxes, waiting for stores to restock, coordinating pickups from strangers, and breaking down, sorting and stacking. Our totes are delivered to your door, save you hours or even days, with no hunting, no waiting, no stress, and more time for what actually matters.

What about free boxes?

Free boxes still cost you time.

The boxes might not cost a dime. Tracking them down, hauling them home, and breaking them all down afterward is where the hours go.

The little things

Details that make packing easier

Label pocket

A pocket on the end holds a 5" X 7" card. Write the room on it and you can read it from across the garage.

Recessed, snap-on lid

The lid snaps shut and the tote above sits down into it, so stacks stay put.

Handles that fit your hands

Molded grips on both ends. Much easier than getting your fingers under a box.

Lockable

Holes for a zip tie or a small padlock, if you want a tote to stay closed.

Tie-down channels

Channels for straps, so a stack can be tied down in the truck.

They nest

Empty totes slide inside each other, so they don't take over your place before or after you pack.

A greener way to move

And nothing goes to the curb.

A cardboard box usually gets one move out of it. Our totes go out again and again, cleaned between every rental. Less to buy, less to throw out.

We deliver. You move. We pick up.

Skip the boxes this time.

Tell us your dates and how big your move is. We'll confirm your totes and take it from there.
